Buy Cigs Online Co. runs a points program, and almost nobody using the store knows what it is worth. Points are called puffs. You earn them on the money you spend, on your first sign-in after registering, on daily logins, on product reviews, and on referrals — and you redeem them for free cigarette packs, free cigarette cartons, or a percentage off your next order. This guide explains the whole program with the real numbers, so you can decide whether to hold your puffs or spend them.
Everything below comes from the live store: the earning rules on the Loyalty Reward Page inside your account, and the reward tiers the store publishes there.
What the BCO rewards program is
BCO rewards is a single points balance attached to your customer account. Every dollar you spend on an eligible order adds one puff to that balance. The balance is visible in three places while you shop: on the product page (“Purchase & earn X puffs!”), in the cart and at checkout as an “earn” note, and on the order confirmation page once the order is paid.
The rewards catalogue lives on the Loyalty Reward Page, reachable from My Account. You do not need a special invite, a code, or a paid tier. You need an account, and you need to be signed in when you order.
How you earn puffs
1. One puff for every $1 you spend
The main earn rule is the simplest one: 1 puff per $1 spent on your order subtotal. It applies to any eligible order of $1 or more. Two fine-print details matter:
- Free-gift promo items are excluded from the earn calculation, so a free pack you unlock from a spend tier does not add puffs on its own.
- The rule is based on what you spend, not on how many packs you buy. A $100 order always earns 100 puffs, whether that $100 is a few cartons or a mixed basket.
2. 300 puffs when you create an account
New customers get 300 puffs for signing up. That is not a decorative number — 300 puffs is exactly the cost of the store’s sign-up bonus reward, a $10 cash back credit on your first order. In other words, registering and then redeeming turns into a straight $10 off the first cart you build.
The sign-up puffs appear in your account after registration, and the reward is redeemed the same way as any other: from the loyalty page, then applied as a coupon at checkout.
3. 5 puffs every day you sign in
The store also pays for the habit. Signing in to your account earns 5 puffs for the daily login. One login a week for a year is roughly 260 puffs; a login most days is worth well over 1,000 puffs a year, which is real money at the reward ladder below. It takes a few seconds and nothing else has to happen — no order required.
4. 10 puffs for a product review
Reviews earn 10 puffs each. If you reorder the same three or four brands every month — say a carton of Canadian Full, a carton of BB Light, and a pack of Playfare Menthol — reviewing what you actually smoke is a free top-up between orders.
5. Refer a friend and earn a $50 referral credit
The referral program is the biggest single reward in the catalogue: refer a friend and earn $50 after they make a purchase. Referral coupons carry the REF- prefix, so they are easy to tell apart from puffs redemptions when you apply one at checkout. The rule that matters: the credit lands only after the person you referred actually completes a purchase, so a signup with no order does not trigger it.
The puff reward ladder
These are the rewards the store currently publishes. Redemption codes generated for percentage and cash-back rewards carry a BCO- prefix.
Puffs | Reward | What you get ---------+-------------------------------+-------------------------------- 300 | Sign-up Bonus $10 Cash Back | $10 off your first order 400 | Mystery Free Cigarette Pack | One free mystery pack 500 | Starter Smoke Reward | 10% off the order 600 | Burn Bonus Reward | 12% off the order 900 | Mystery Free Cigarette Carton | One free mystery carton 1000 | Flame Tier Reward | 15% off the order 1500 | Spark Elite Reward | 18% off the order 2000 | Ignite Premium Reward | 20% off the order 3000 | Blaze VIP Reward | 25% off the order
Two different reward shapes sit on that ladder. The percentage and cash-back rewards scale with the size of the cart they are applied to. The free-item rewards — the mystery pack at 400 puffs and the mystery carton at 900 puffs — are fixed-value, and they are delivered as the store’s multi-brand sampler SKUs: Mystery Cigarette Pack and Mystery Cigarette Carton.
How to redeem your puffs
- Sign in to My Account and open the Loyalty Reward Page. Your current balance sits at the top.
- Pick a reward your balance covers and press Redeem Now. Points are taken from the balance immediately.
- The store generates a single-use coupon for that reward —
BCO-for puffs redemptions,REF-for referrals. - Press Apply Coupon on your cart, or paste the code into the coupon field at checkout. The discount comes off before you pay.
One practical note: reward coupons are set as individual-use coupons, meaning you apply one per order. You cannot stack two puffs redemptions on the same cart, so it usually pays to hold the balance for one bigger reward than to redeem two small ones back to back.
Free pack, free carton, or a percentage off?
Once your balance passes 500 puffs, you have a genuine choice to make each time. The math is straightforward:
- Small orders (under about $60): the free-item rewards win. A free mystery carton at 900 puffs is worth a full carton, and a 12% discount on a $55 cart is only $6.60.
- Large orders ($250 and up): percentage rewards win, and it is not close. 15% off a $250 restock is $37.50, while the same points held to 900 buys one free carton.
- Sampler value: if you are still deciding which brand to commit to, the 400-puff free mystery pack and 900-puff free mystery carton are the cheapest way to try brands you have not ordered yet — the same idea as the wider cigarette sampler pack guide.
Stacking puffs with the store’s free-item tiers and free shipping
Puffs are one of three ways the store gives money back, and they do not conflict. The other two are the cart-total spend tiers that unlock free merchandise, and the free shipping threshold:
- $80 cart — free pack tier: spend $80 and get a free pack
- $240 cart — free carton tier: spend $240 and get a carton
- $480 cart — two free cartons: spend $480 and get 2x free cartons
- $99 cart — free shipping: the store ships free over $99 with Canada Post Expedited, otherwise a flat rate applies. The full rate card is in the shipping options guide.
So the same cart can free your shipping, unlock a free pack, and bank puffs toward a discount — as long as you are signed in. The detailed free-item mechanics, including how the promo SKUs are added, are covered in the bundle deals guide.
A worked example: one month of ordering
Here is what a normal month looks like for a two-carton-a-month customer who orders in weekly batches instead of one big drop. All carts are signed in, all orders are paid and completed:
Week | Cart | Earned | Also unlocked -------+--------+---------------+------------------------- 1 | $85 | 85 puffs | free pack tier ($80+) 2 | $100 | 100 puffs | free shipping ($99+) 3 | $105 | 105 puffs | free shipping + free pack 4 | $120 | 120 puffs | free shipping + free pack --------+--------+---------------+------------------------- Totals| $410 | 410 puffs | two free packs + 3x free shipping
Add the passive earns over the same month: roughly 5 puffs a day for logins (about 150) and three product reviews at 10 puffs each (30). That is about 590 puffs on top of the $410 spend — without spending an extra dollar. Redeem at 500 for the 10% Starter Smoke reward and the next cart gets 10% off; hold 10 more days of logins and the 600-puff 12% Burn Bonus opens instead.
If you would rather push to the free-item rewards, the same month gets you to 590, which is short of the 900-puff free carton. A single larger restock is usually the faster route to that tier — that is what the carton math guide and the monthly supply planner are for.
Which products to buy when you are earning puffs
Because the earn rate is 1 puff per dollar, the product choice does not change the rate — but it does change how fast a cart reaches the next spend tier. Carton pricing on the store runs in two bands: most brands sit at the full carton price, while the value end lands lower.
Full-flavor picks that most customers restock with include Canadian Full, BB Full Flavor, Canadian Classics Original, Classics Full Flavor, Playfare Full Flavor, Discount Full Flavor, Rolled Gold Full Flavor, DK’s Full, Nexus Full Flavor, Time Full, Canadian Premium Original, Canadian Goose, Putters Full Flavor and dM Original.
Lighter and smoother carts — the ones most likely to need several cartons to clear a spend tier — include Canadian Lights, Canadian Ultra Lights, BB Light, Canadian Classics Silver, Canadian Classics Ultra Blue, Classics Lights, Classics Extra Lights, Playfare Light, Playfare Ultra Light, Discount Lights, Rolled Gold Light, DK’s Light, dM Smooth, Nexus Light, Putters Light, Time Blue and Canadian Premium Special.
Menthol and cooling carts: Canadian Menthol, BB Menthol, Canadian Classics Menthol, Classics Menthol, Playfare Menthol, Discount Menthol and Rolled Gold Menthol. For the strength and variant differences inside those lineups, the brand lineup comparison and the light cigarettes comparison are the fastest reads.
If you mix brands across a cart, the multi-brand combinations guide explains how to build a basket that still clears a spend tier, and the carton price comparison covers which brands give you the most carton per dollar.
Common questions about BCO puffs
Do puffs expire?
The store does not publish an expiry date on puff balances, so earning across several months and redeeming in one go is the normal way to use them. What does happen is removal on an order that is refunded, failed, or cancelled — the puffs from that order come back off your balance, because the spend itself did not stick.
Do I earn puffs on free gift items?
No. Free-gift promo items are excluded from the earn calculation. Everything you actually pay for earns normally.
Can I use two reward coupons on one order?
No. Puffs reward coupons are individual-use, so one per order. That is why it is usually better to bank puffs toward one larger reward than to redeem small ones back to back.
Where do I see my puff balance?
On every product page (the “Purchase & earn” note), in the cart and at checkout, on the order confirmation page, and in full on the Loyalty Reward Page in your account.
Do I have to be signed in to earn?
Yes — puffs attach to an account, not an email address at checkout. Signing in before you build the cart is the whole trick. If you have never ordered, the first-time buyer’s guide walks through account setup and the first order, and the payment methods guide covers Interac, card and crypto at checkout.
Can I earn on a referral and a purchase at the same time?
You can, but they are separate rewards. The referral credit is a REF- coupon worth $50 and pays out after your friend’s purchase completes; puffs are earned per dollar on your own orders. Both are individual-use coupons, so they are redeemed on separate carts.
Getting started with puffs
The whole program costs nothing to join and nothing to maintain:
- Create an account to collect the 300 sign-up puffs, then redeem them as the $10 first-order credit.
- Sign in before you build a cart so the order earns its puffs.
- Sign in daily for the 5-puff login bonus and review what you smoke for 10 puffs a review.
- Watch your balance on the Loyalty Reward Page and redeem the tier that fits the size of your next cart.
Start with the full shop or the cigarettes category, filter down to the strength and brand family you actually smoke, and let the puffs do the rest. If you want to compare brand families before committing a cart to one, start with the brand comparison guide, the most popular brands report, and the menthol buying guide.
Questions about a redemption that did not apply, or a balance that looks off? The Customer Help Center covers ordering, shipping and payments, orders can be followed from the order tracking page, and the FAQ answers the quick ones. For a restock rhythm that lines up with the tiers, the restock schedule guide and the bulk buying guide are the natural next reads.
