Payment is the last step of an online cigarette order, but it quietly decides how fast the order moves. BCO checkout offers three payment methods — credit card, Interac e-Transfer, and cryptocurrency — and each one authorises differently. The same cart can leave the warehouse hours apart depending on which one you pick.
This guide walks through how to pay for cigarettes online in Canada, what happens after you press the buy button with each method, and how your payment choice interacts with shipping, cart thresholds, and the promo tiers the store runs. If you are assembling your first order, read this alongside the first-time buyer’s guide.
Why the payment method matters more than it looks
Every order passes through two separate clocks: the payment clock and the shipping clock. The payment clock is how long it takes for your money to be confirmed. The shipping clock is the transit time of the method you select at checkout. Confusion usually comes from mixing the two.
- Credit card and cryptocurrency confirm at the moment you check out, so the order moves into processing straight away.
- Interac e-Transfer is a manual bank transfer. The order is created and held until the transfer arrives and is matched to the order, and only then does processing begin.
That single difference explains most “why is my order still on hold?” questions. It is not a stock problem and it is not a site problem — an e-Transfer order simply has one more step than a card order.
The payment methods available at BCO checkout
Three options are live on the checkout page today. Each one is described below with what you actually do and what happens next.
Credit card
Credit card is the most-used option on the site and the simplest. You choose Credit Card on the checkout page, enter your card details, and the payment is authorised in the same session. Nothing further is required from you — the order drops into processing with a payment already attached.
This is the method to use when you want the order to move immediately. If your cart is built around a brand you already know — BB Full Flavor, Canadian Full, or Canadian Classics Original — there is no reason to add an extra transfer step. Pay by card and the rest is just tracking the shipment.
Interac e-Transfer (Email Money Transfer)
Interac e-Transfer is built for Canadian bank accounts and works entirely inside your own banking app. Select the e-Transfer option at checkout and place the order. The order is created on hold, and the confirmation email carries the amount and the transfer details you need.
Send the transfer for the exact order total from your bank app. Once it is received and matched to your order, the order is released into processing and the shipping clock starts. Two practical points:
- Send the exact amount. A transfer that does not match the order total cannot be applied cleanly to the order.
- Send from a bank account you can access later. If a transfer needs to be verified, you want to be able to confirm it quickly.
E-Transfer is a good fit for buyers who treat an online order like a normal bill payment and are not in a hurry. It is the wrong fit for a “I am nearly out and need it fast” order — see the shipping section below before pairing a transfer with the slowest delivery option.
Cryptocurrency
Cryptocurrency checkout is enabled through the store’s crypto processor. At checkout you choose the coin, the order page shows the exact amount to send and the receiving address, and you send from your own wallet. When the network confirms the payment, the order moves into processing.
Crypto orders run on a payment window shown on the order page, so send promptly after checking out. If a payment is not received inside that window, the order is cancelled rather than left sitting open indefinitely. Two habits keep crypto orders clean:
- Match the network to the address. Sending a token on the wrong network is the single most common crypto mistake. The checkout page names the network the address expects — use that one.
- Send the exact amount shown. Slight differences in timing can change the converted total, so use the figure on the order page, not a number you calculated earlier.
Nobody at BCO will ever ask you for a private key, seed phrase, or wallet password. Any message that does is not from the store. If you are ordering nicotine pouches instead of cigarettes — ZYN Spearmint, ZYN Watermelon, or ZYN Peach Bellini Slim 9mg — the crypto flow is identical. The cigarettes vs nicotine pouches comparison covers which category fits your routine.
Payment methods side by side
Method | Where you pay | Order starts processing | Best for --------------------+----------------------+------------------------------+---------------------- Credit card | Checkout page | Immediately on authorisation | Most orders Interac e-Transfer| Your banking app | After transfer is matched | Bank-transfer buyers Cryptocurrency | Your own wallet | After network confirmation | Crypto payers Cash on delivery | Not available | -- | --
Cash on delivery is not offered at checkout. The three methods above are the complete list, so if you were looking for a pay-on-arrival option, choose card for the fastest turnaround or e-Transfer if you prefer paying from your bank.
Which payment method fits your order?
If you are ordering because you are nearly out
Pay by card or crypto and pick the fastest shipping method your budget allows. Pairing e-Transfer with a slow transit option is the classic mistake that turns a two-day problem into a four-day one. The shipping options guide breaks the transits down, and Time Full or Putters Full Flavor are quick single-lineup orders if you already know what you want.
If you are buying by the carton
Larger orders have more room for a slower, cheaper payment route, because you are ordering ahead of need rather than to cover a gap. A carton of Canadian Lights, Classics Lights or Playfare Full Flavour placed by e-Transfer on a Monday is a perfectly reasonable plan. See when buying by the carton makes sense and the bulk buying guide for the maths.
If you are trying a brand for the first time
Small trial orders are where card payments earn their keep, because you get an answer today rather than tomorrow. The Mystery Cigarette Pack and the Mystery Cigarette Carton are built for exactly this, and the sampler pack guide explains how to use a small first order to narrow down a full-size lineup like dM Original vs dM Smooth, or Nexus Full Flavor vs Nexus Light.
How payment affects the shipping clock
Once payment is confirmed, shipping runs on the method you selected at checkout. The current rate card is:
Method | Speed | Cost / rule ----------------------------------+------------------------+------------------------------ Flat Rate Expedited | 1-5 business days | $15 flat Flat Rate Xpresspost | 1-3 business days | $20 flat FREE Xpresspost (order $99+) | 1-3 business days | subtotal before discounts FREE Xpresspost (order $149+) | 1-3 business days | discounted total counts Flat Rate Priority | next business day | $45 flat Guaranteed Delivery + Signature | tracked and signed | available on $99+ orders
The two free-shipping thresholds are not the same rule. The $99 method measures your merchandise subtotal before any discount code is applied. The $149 method measures the discounted total, so a coupon can still leave you eligible. The $99 free shipping guide walks through building a cart that lands on the right side of the line.
Practical pairings
- Card or crypto + Xpresspost: the fastest realistic combination for a restock order.
- E-Transfer + Expedited: fine for a planned carton order, poor for an urgent one.
- Any method + Priority: worth it only when next-business-day matters more than the $45.
If transit runs long or a parcel arrives wrong, work from the delivery problems guide rather than guessing — it covers late, missing, damaged and address-failure orders in order of what support actually needs from you.
Cart planning: thresholds, tiers and free items
Payment and cart size interact in two ways. First, the shipping thresholds above. Second, the store’s spend tiers, which add free product once your cart crosses a line:
- $80 cart — a free pack, via the Buy More, Get More $80 promo.
- $240 cart — a free carton, via the $240 promo.
- $480 cart — two free cartons, via the $480 promo.
These are promotional items applied to qualifying orders through the store’s coupon system. If you are stacking a multi-brand cart, the brand combinations guide and the bundle deals guide both show how to plan cart totals around the tiers instead of stumbling into them.
If your goal is getting the most product per dollar rather than the fastest delivery, the tier structure is usually worth more than the shipping you would save by trimming the cart. Compare the full picture with what a pack costs at the store vs online before deciding.
Payment questions we get most
Can I pay cash on delivery?
No. Cash on delivery is not offered at checkout. The three live methods are credit card, Interac e-Transfer and cryptocurrency.
What currency am I charged in?
Orders are placed and charged in Canadian dollars. If you pay in cryptocurrency, the order page shows the crypto amount; the order itself is recorded in CAD.
Why is my order still on hold after paying by e-Transfer?
Because the transfer has not been received and matched yet. Check that you sent the exact total and that the send actually completed in your banking app. If the bank shows the transfer as sent and the order is still on hold, contact support with the order number and the transfer reference.
My crypto order was cancelled before I sent the payment
Crypto orders run on a payment window. If the transfer was not received inside that window, the order is cancelled. Place a fresh order and send the payment from the new order page rather than reusing an old address.
Does the payment method change what I can buy?
No. Every cigarette brand in the catalog and every nicotine pouch can be ordered with any of the three payment methods. Included lineups run from Canadian Cigarettes and Canadian Classics through Rolled Gold and Discount, so the method never limits the shelf.
Where do I check payment status?
Use order tracking with your order ID and billing email. The status guide explains what each stage means, including the difference between on hold and processing.
A pre-payment checklist
Ninety seconds of checking before you pay saves a day of follow-up:
- Cart total matches the shipping threshold you were aiming for — $99 or $149 for free Xpresspost.
- You know which tier you are near: $80, $240, $480.
- Shipping method matches how soon you actually need the order.
- Delivery address and postal code are correct, including unit numbers.
- Email address on the order is one you can open, especially for e-Transfer.
- Payment method matches your timeline — card or crypto for speed, e-Transfer for planned orders.
- For crypto: coin and network match the address on the order page.
Where to get help with a payment
Payment questions are support questions, not guesswork. The Customer Help Center collects the common ones, the contact page lists the ways to reach the team, and the 25-question buyer Q&A answers most first-order confusion in one place. Rewards and referral credits live on the rewards page, explained step by step in the rewards guide.
Start your order
Nothing about payment should slow down a restock. Decide whether you want speed or a bank transfer, pick the cart size that matches your shelf, and check out. The full shop has every stocked lineup in one place, and this is the current spread by tier:
- Full flavor: Canadian Premium Original, Canadian Goose, DK’s Full, Classics Full Flavor, Discount Full Flavor.
- Light and smooth: Canadian Premium Special, DK’s Light, Playfare Light, Rolled Gold Light, Time Blue.
- Ultra light: Canadian Ultra Lights, Canadian Classics Ultra Blue, Classics Extra Lights, Playfare Ultra Light.
- Menthol: Canadian Menthol, Classics Menthol, Playfare Menthol, Rolled Gold Menthol.
- Cross-tier lineups: BB, Classics, Playfare and Time.
If you are unsure which strength suits you, start from the catalog map by strength or the strength levels explainer before you load a cart. If you are moving from full flavor to something lighter, Canadian Lights and Putters Light are the usual first stops, and the strong vs smooth guide explains the draw difference. Buyers who only smoke occasionally tend to start smaller — see best cigarettes for occasional smokers.
Pick your method, confirm the cart, and let the order run. Card and crypto move on their own; e-Transfer needs one transfer from your bank and then it moves too.
